Summer seems to finally be here now in the UK and we are busy planning our summer holidays. Have you planned yours?

Here's a few of our ideas that can help you plan the best summer for you and your family.

Anything with food has us ready to go! Planning picnics with the family can be a great way to get everyone involved. Prepping the food, packing the bag, carrying the bag and blanket, finding the best spot to sit - there's loads of fun to be had. Step up your picnics with colourful plates and cutlery and if you can't find a spot in the shade, use sunscreen.

Start a bullet journal

We are big fans of bullet journaling, as you already know. Summer can be a great time to start journaling and planning out your summer activities and holidays. Keeping stock of your spending with all the days out and holidays planned is also a great way to use your journal. It's also a great way to keep the kids interested in actually writing or scrapbooking their summer. This will make their back to school experience a little easier as it won't be such a shock to start writing again. This activity is great for those rare rainy days (we hope!) and of course for when it's too hot to be outside.

You can easily decorate using ticket stubs or pretty flowers from your days out. Or you can use washi tape to give it a more colourful look!

Make a bug house

This might not be to everyone's fancy at all as not everyone likes creepy crawlies. But using various household items like toilet rolls for example you can make a comfy home in your garden for a variety of mini beasts. There are many ready made varieties but there's a few Pinterest ideas too.

Days out

Once you've planned out your holidays in your bullet journal, you can book in advance to most places for a cheaper rate. Be sure to check the website at least a month before you go, some places book up months in advance so be cautious of that before you tell the family where you are off to.

Water balloons

Prepare to get wet! Kids love any water activities and we have to admit that we have a soft spot for water balloons. You might want to set up some rules that this is just an outdoor game but it's a great way to cool down in the hot weather. Probably why we like it so much because we hate the heat bringing out the fussy side in our children.

So that's our list of 5 things to do this summer. Just remember to keep the sunscreen topped up and make sure you have a hat and a bottle of water handy.

We have a range of craft, stationery and party products on our website and also keep following our Facebook page as we have a something fun planned for July!
